James Perspective Made Known in Work of Spiritual Fiction

Brothers often have a dual relationship of love and hate, trust and doubt. Take it from Cain and Abel who, in the book of Genesis, were both in conflict with one another. In the New Testament, James' relationship with Jesus was no exception. He criticized and attacked Jesus, his brother. He led his family against Jesus. Then he gradually turned into the best believer of Jesus' as he painfully searched for the answers of the puzzles and riddles surrounding his own brother. In Rev. Jacob Y. Eom's My Brother My Lord (A Fictional Spiritual Journey of Lord's Brother James) (paperback, 978-1-60477-134-3), James will tell readers in his own words how to overcome seemingly obvious obstacles of faith. The author attempts to convince the intellectual skeptics--through the use of spiritual fiction--of the gospel and the Lordship of Christ through the story of James. Even the staunchest cynics will have their legitimate questions fully answered through the story.

Says Eom, a Korean-American pastor, "Not many spiritual books or not even a book (as far as I know) has been written about this very important and dramatic brother of Jesus who was a central figure in the New Testament story and in the early church. This may be the first book to trace his spiritual journey in view of gospel application."

Once a hardcore skeptic himself, Eom sympathized with James for a long time and even adopted the name of Jacob, which he explains is an Old Testament form of the New Testament's James. Additionally, "As a pastor, I have dealt with a lot of James-like people," he says. While all of us stand somewhere between James' spiritual journey from doubt to faith, it is the author's hope that his readers will move toward spiritual enlightenment and draw encouragement from the pages of his book.
