(PRWEB) February 1, 2006 -- Gospel is woven into the cultural fabric of African-Americans. As we celebrate Black History Month, gospel is a large part of that celebration. The word “gospel” translates to “good news;” and Jubilant Production Ministries (Jubilant Productions) has some “good news” for the city of Jacksonville: “If you hold on to God’s unchanging hand, everything will be alright.”
“ People are hungry for the word of God and I feel that we have the tools to reach those who are angry, hurting, and sufferin... ”
Jubilant Productions has been around for over eleven years spreading the gospel throughout various parts of the Florida Panhandle. With a mission statement like “Minister. Inspire. Praise.” – it’s no wonder Jubilant Productions would like to spread the “good news” nationwide.
The Tallahassee-based gospel theatre company will be presenting God’s Unchanging Hand: I Held On, Saturday, February 11th at the historic Florida Theatre. This inspirational musical stage drama is based on the struggle of a woman to cleave unto God in the midst of the devil’s wage of warfare on her family. God’s Unchanging Hand: I Held On is the first of six gospel plays produced by Evangelist Colston.
“We want to the community to understand what it truly means to hold on. Even when the walls are closing in on you, you have to hold on to God’s unchanging hand,” urges Colston. “Man will fail you, and how well do I know that. But when you call on the name on Jesus, he’s always right there.”
The gospel theatre company consists of approximately twenty anointed and talented actors, singers, and musicians from the Tallahassee-area. The play is said to have an “old-time” gospel flavor. Many of the songs that will be performed in the play are new arrangements of familiar traditional spirituals reflecting the struggles of life ultimately resulting in victory.
“We have heard that Jacksonville is a city that loves gospel musical stage plays and we are looking forward to performing in such a great city.”
Leading gospel station in Jacksonville, Gospel 1400 WZAZ The Light, has embraced Jubilant Productions and joined them as the Official Media Partner for the February 11th performance. "Gospel 1400 WZAZ is elated to be the media partner with a company such as Jubilant Productions because they understand the value of not diluting the word of God from their stage plays," states Octavius Davis, Program Manager.
Jubilant Productions has plans to tour a number of other Southeastern metros this Fall, including Atlanta, GA. “People are hungry for the word of God and I feel that we have the tools to reach those who are angry, hurting, and suffering.”
